Magicmotorsport, in collaboration with Viezu Technologies and the Viezu Technical Academy (VTA), present a specialist in-person diesel ECU tuning course focused on the combined use of WinOLS and StageX.
This course demonstrates how StageX can provide user-friendly starting points and intelligent validation tools, making diesel ECU tuning faster, safer, and more efficient when working within WinOLS.
For tuners based in the USA, this is a rare opportunity to receive hands-on WinOLS and StageX diesel training from leading European calibration experts, alongside the technical team from Magicmotorsport.

Course Overview
This intensive 3-day classroom and workshop course is designed to take tuners from basic map editing to confident, professional-level diesel ECU calibration using WinOLS, supported by StageX map intelligence and workflow tools.
Training is delivered through tutor-led presentations combined with structured, hands-on exercises. The course focuses on real-world diesel ECU strategies, safe tuning practices, and repeatable professional workflows.
Group sizes are kept small to ensure individual support. Participants are encouraged to contact the lead trainer in advance to discuss specific vehicles, ECUs, or training goals so these can be incorporated into the course examples.
Detailed Course Structure
Day 1 – Diesel Strategies, ECU Structure & Map Identification
Topics covered:
How diesel ECUs make decisions:
Torque → Fuel → Boost → Rail Pressure → Smoke → Protections
ECU family strategies: EDC16, EDC17, Delphi, Siemens
Understanding ECU structure and WinOLS project organisation Core diesel map identification using StageX and manual verification, Building clean, structured mappacks, Limiter interactions and dependencies Importing and adapting calibration data using WinOLS Compare & Import tools.
Day 2 – Boost, Rail Pressure, Torque Management & Driveability
Focus: Safe and effective diesel tuning on stock hardware
Topics covered:
- Boost control strategies (VNT & Wastegate)
- Rail pressure targets and protection mechanisms
- Torque limiters, IQ structure, and torque modelling
- Smoke limiters and air-fuel balancing
- Pedal response and driveability optimisation
- Through guided workshop tasks, participants will produce balanced calibrations that improve performance while maintaining smooth driveability and controlled emissions behaviour.
Day 3 – Full Calibration Workflow & Practical Refinement
Topics covered:
- Complete calibration workflow from stock file to finished tune
- Project planning and full mappack completion
- Integrating database calibrations into new software versions
- StageX-supported validation and map coverage checks
- Iterative refinement (Version 1 → Version 2) using example dyno and log data
- Exporting a fully documented, client-ready calibration file
By the end of Day 3, participants will have built a complete diesel ECU tune using industry-standard professional processes.
